World Organization
WTO - World Trade Organization:
The World Trade Organization - The international organization whose primary purpose is to open trade for the benefit of all countries. Establish in 1 January 1995, in Geneva Switzerland and there are 160 member Joined in this organization. Vietnam Joined WTO lately in 11 January 2007.
It function is:
- Administering WTO trade agreedment.
- Forum for trade negotiations.
- Handling trade dispute.
- Monitoring national trade policies.
- Technical assistance and trainning for developing coutries.
- Cooperate with other international organization.
The WTO was born out of negotiations and everything the WTO does is the result of negotiations. The bulk of the WTO's current work comes from the 1968-1994 negotiations called the Uruguay Round and earlier negotiations under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
Over 60 years, WTO and its predecessor organization GATT have help to creat a strong international trading system, thereby contributing to global economic growth never have like before.
The goals of WTO is to guilding principle remain the pursuit of open borders, guarantee of most favoured nation principle and non-discriminatory treatment by and among members. Opening national markets to international trade, with justifiable expections or with adequate flexibilities, will encourage and contribute tosustainable development, raise people's welfare, reduce poverty and foster peace.
More specific the main activities of WTO are:
- Negotiating the reduction or elimination of obstacles to trade and agreeing on rules governing the conduct of international trade.
- Administering and monitoring the application of the WTO's agreed rule for trade in goods, trade in services, and trade related intellectual property rights.
- Monitoring and reviewing the trade policies of our members, as well as ensuring transparency of regional and bilateral trade agreements.
- Settling disputes among our members regarding the interpretation and application of the agreements.
- Building capacity of developing country government officials in international trade matters.
- Assisting the process of accession of some 30 countries who are not yet member of the organization.
- Conducting economic research and collecting and disseminating trade data in support of the WTO's other main activities.
- Explainning and educating to the public about the WTO.

The IMF - International Momentary Fund:
The IMF works to foster global growth and economic stability. It provides policy advice and financing to members in economic difficulties, also works with developing nation to help them achieve success and reduce poverty. Establish about 60 years ago, formally created in 1945 after the World War II, now there are 188 countries around the world have involve in the organization. The IMF has played role in shaping the global ecnomy since the end of World War II.After the second World War ends, the consequence it left behind is the Great Depression of the 1930s, countries' economic falling by raising barriers to foreign trade, mission to rebuilding national economic begin. The IMF is charged with overseeing the international monetary system to ensure exchange rate stability and encouraging members to eliminate exchange restrictions.
The IMF function is to help ensure stability in the international system and does it in 3 ways:
- Keep tracking of the global economy and the economies of member countries.
- Lending to countries with balance of payments difficulties.
- Giving pratical help to members like techical assistance or trainer for developing countries.
The IMF supports it's member by providing:
- Policy advice to governments and central banks based on analysis of economic trends and cross country experiences.
- Research, statistics, forecasts, and analysis based on tracking of global, regional, individual economic and markets.
- Loans to help countries overcome economic difficulties.
- Concessional loans to help fight poverty in developing countries.
- Technical assistance and training to help countries to improve the management of their economies.
Origianal goal:
- Prpvide a forum for cooperation on international monetary problems.
- Facilitate the growth of international trade, promoting job creation, economic growth and poverty reduction.
- Promote exchange rate stability and an open system of international payments.
- Lend countries foreing exhange when they need, to help them address balance of payment system.
